A few folks will tell you that aluminum intakes absorb heat quicker, and that's true, but it's also true that aluminum lets heat dissipate much more quickly than plastic. Plastic has a tendency to "soak" all that heat in (heat soak) and never let it go, unlike aluminum which allows for a cooler running temperature and therefore better performance.
